The main responsibilities of the Site General Manager role are to assist the Group Operations Director in every aspect of running and leading the site in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Technical, Engineering and H&S.

This is a full-time role at our 11 acre site in Harwich, Essex therefore, candidates must be willing to commute daily and or / relocate.

A “hands on approach attitude “is required as well being used to improving culture, efficiencies and profitability within a Food Manufacturing environment.

This role will require FMCG (Food / Beverages) Wholesale and or/ Retailer experience.

The candidate must be well versed in BRC and other regulatory bodies (such as TSO and EHO) and comply with the Company’s quality standards and requirements.

You will manage the operations and ensure warehouse and production targets and objectives are achieved, utilising our internal stocking system for production planning / scheduling throughout all departments.

The successful person must have at least 5 years in a Senior Production / Head of Operations Leadership role.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Manage the overall development and performance of the Operations function to obtain maximum efficiency, quality, service and profitability for business.
  • Develop and mould the working culture and employee engagement through setting the highest standards.
  • Create an Operations vision with clear and understandable actions and processes to support it’s delivery.
  • Lead, coach and develop the team to deliver the vision commitment.
  • Embrace and enhance an Operations and cross-functional teamwork ethic.
  • Lead the day-to-day operations with a strong focus and emphasis on continuous improvement and the identification of the next competitive advantage.
  • Review and improve operational effectiveness for optimized productivity.
  • Lead and support the Group Health & Safety Manager to promote Health and Safety across site
  • Lead and support the Group Head of Technical with Quality cultures ensuring a safe working environment and quality excellence

Key skills:

  • Knowledge of business process and proven track record for management of Operations functions (for example Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Health and Safety, Technical)
  • Good negotiation skills, Production planning, supply chain management.
  • A solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
  • The ability to plan, organise, monitor and if necessary take corrective action to fulfil contractual requirements and achieve appropriate financial returns.
  • Ability to manage and develop positive relations with client and internal/ external stakeholders to ensure continued and increasing business.
  • Monitor sales orders and stocks, forecasting for future demand of new and existing products. Excel and Word proficiency are essential, as is knowledge of ERP/MRP/Microsoft D365 Systems.
  • Experience of implementing stock control procedures and KPI reporting.

  • Certified in IOSH Managing Safely
  • HACCP/TACCP & VACCP knowledge
