Surya Foods launch Graduate Scheme

Harwich food giants Surya Foods has launched a Graduate Scheme to provide a much needed boost to young people whose career prospects have been hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

The global foods leader has kicked off its search for talented graduates to join its 2021 Graduate Programme.

The opportunity to play a part in the group’s ambitious expansion plans is about to become a reality for dozens of eager graduates keen to carve a career in FMCG.

Surya Foods is bolstering its talent pool by offering opportunities to graduates of all backgrounds, with Surya’s parent company, Flying Trade Group, overseeing businesses spanning International food, boutique hotels, leisure, online retail, building, construction and real estate.

Successful applicants will be allocated a buddy to help settle into the role and act as a mentor to support ongoing development.

A typical role can involve everything from overseeing new product development, from concept to launch at national retail, to gaining invaluable skills in international supply chain.

Graduate opportunities have been created across: Commercial, Marketing, Technical, Product Development, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Operations, Buying and Finance.

“This pandemic has hit the younger generation particularly hard. Many are worried about their career prospects and unsure how long it will take for businesses to return to old levels of recruitment. Our business has done well this year, despite the challenges, and we are keen to play a part in providing some great future opportunities. We are open to creating as many as 50 positions for the right candidates.

Latest figures reveal Laila is the fastest growing rice brand in the UK Top 3 for a fourth year running. Achieving sales growth of 33.6%, Laila added more than £5 million year on year to the dry rice category according to latest Nielsen data.* Laila’s popularity continues to gather pace with UK consumers - achieving shelf space on the mainstream rice aisles for the first time this year. It is also the UK’s No.1 dry rice brand.

In addition, Surya’s newly launched Thai Dragon brand - which features a range of spicy and aromatic snacks and sauces inspired by traditional Thai cuisine -has also turned in an impressive year, achieving sales nearing £5 million since its January 2020 launch.
